Biography

I joined the University of Birmingham, School of Chemical Engineering in 2023 as a Research Fellow in the Chemical Engineering Department to develop efficient methods for dissolving starch and gum particles in water using experimental approaches. My BSc degree in Chemistry was from Benue State University, Makurdi, Nigeria (2009) while my PhD degree (Physical Chemistry and Colloids, 2015) was from the University of Hull, UK. Following a postdoctoral research position (2015–2016) at the University of Hull, UK on formulating powders of immiscible liquid mixtures for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications, I joined Benue State University, Makurdi, Nigeria where I taught physical chemistry, colloids and scientific writing and ethics and pioneered the Applied Colloid Science and Cosmeceutical Group (Chemistry Department, 2017–2023). My research at Benue State University focused mainly on developing novel food and pharmaceutical materials from honey. I have received over 25 accolades and I am on the editorial board of Reviews of Adhesion and Adhesives and the editor of Frontiers in Soft Matter.
