Andrew Turnell

PhD projects

Andy Turnell’s lab is principally interested in the role of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway in the regulation of the transcription and the cell cycle, and how the small DNA tumour virus, adenovirus (Ad), targets this pathway to deregulate host cell transcription programmes and cell cycle checkpoints in order to promote viral replication and cellular transformation. In this regard, his research group is most interested in the function of the E1A, E1B and E4 oncoproteins.

Dr Turnell’s research is divided into three main areas:

Regulation of DNA damage response signalling pathways by adenovirus
Regulation of the proteasome by adenovirus E1A
Regulation of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C)
