Research interests
Alex's research involves exploring issues of deprivation of liberty, mental capacity and disability.
His PhD thesis focuses on the new framework in England and Wales for administratively authorising the deprivation of liberty for individuals who lack capacity. This is known as the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).
Alex also practises as a Barrister in the Court of Protection. He is therefore interested in the operation of procedural safeguards and how courts play a role in this area.
