Alan Sexton’s research interests are in various aspects of scientific and historical document analysis, optical character and mathematical formula recognition, mathematical knowledge management, implementation technologies for web applications, theory and implementation of databases and file index structures.

He is also involved in the Scientific Document Analysis and Principles of Programming groups.
