The research carried out by Adam Cunningham’s group addresses the following questions:

How are T and B cell immune responses regulated?
How do immune responses to infection develop?
How does infection alter immune homeostasis?
How do responses to vaccines develop?
How can the information from these studies help us to design and implement better vaccines and improve the maintenance of effective immunity?
The group uses in vivo models to study how infection and vaccination modifies immune homeostasis, with a particular emphasis on adaptive immunity. Relating these changes to bacterial clearance helps identify how infections are controlled and how vaccines function.

Professor Cunningham supervises doctoral researchers in the areas of adaptive immunity, vaccine function, immunomodulation and immunity to infection.
