Technique invented in Birmingham conceived as a main topic at the Oberwolfach Workshop on Graph Theory

Last week I was at the Oberwolfach workshop on Graph Theory. The topic of the morning session on Tuesday was "local separators", a new structural tool I invented here in Birmingham in 2020. Since then we discovered many more applications of these methods and quite a few researchers joined me in the effort.

Another result that attracted a lot of attention at the workshop was the solution of the Erdos-Faber-Lovasz Conjecture by Daniela Kuhn, Deryk Osthus and co-workers.
