Olympic State of Mind

Press/Media: Press / Media

Description

Imagery is a popular mental technique used by athletes to achieve success, but it has many applications for everyday life. Dr Jenn Cumming from the SPRINT project was recently interviewed for a special feature of the Olympic Channel on visualisation and talked about practical tips from her research for getting more out of imagery, including building images in layers. This resource also includes an imagery game, based on mental rotation tasks used to test a person's imagery ability using sport-specific images. The key take-away is that imagery is a skill that needs practice to get better at it, but a better ability to image can lead to lots of benefits such as helping you to be more confident when taking tests or remembering information better.
