Synopsis Military families face unique challenges globally; supporting them is a strategic Defence priority due to impact on military personnel retention, crucial to defence capability. Policies supporting military families and their effectiveness vary across countries. In the UK, there is a need for more integrated, evidence-based and sustainable policy framework to support Armed Forces families. This international comparative review examines models from US, Canada, Australia and Europe to assess policy effectiveness, identify best practices and co-produce actionable policy recommendations with stakeholders. Leveraging global insights presents a timely opportunity for transformative learning and innovation in UK Armed Forces family policy and internationally.
