Topology of Spatial Texture: aesthetic and technological approaches to space-time

Description

The lecture explains a theoretical framework for spatial texture. Topics include how spectral and perspectival aspects of sound contribute to a multi-dimensional spatial experience; 'instantaneous' and 'evolutive' structures in space and time; the formation of textural terrain; and the role of spatial metaphors for time in listening. Some technological approaches for performance and spatial texture synthesis are described, which emphasise an integration of space and time in the creative process.
