Today, the use of different forms of eLearning is commonplace in the delivery of legal education in the United Kingdom, in addition to traditional live learning experiences. In this seminar Dr Julian Lonbay, Senior Lecturer at Birmingham Law School will elaborate on the growing use of modern technology in legal studies in the UK, using practical examples and interactions including Virtual Learning Environments, online discussions and assessments, 'flipped' classes, lecture polling and the use of electronic 'walls'. Julian is an internationally leading expert on the law relating to legal education, lawyers and other professionals; and has published extensively. He is the UK representative on the Training Committee of the Council of the Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), consultant to EU and Council of Europe advising on the initial training of lawyers in Georgia, and former president of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA). The seminar will take in the Law Department's new facilities at Trädgårdsgatan 7E (top floor room 305) and registration should be made to [email protected] (seats are limited).
