Sharing of booklet Sanando comunidad with local decision makers in Tumaco

Activity: Other

Description

BY participating in a private meeting organized by local authorities in Tumaco, we were able to share with key decision makers the findings and process of our research on mental health and youth in the Pacific region. Among the participating organizations we had local school headmasters, UNICEF representatives, Save the Children representatives as well as coordinators between aid organizations and local NGOs. The booklet caught the attention of the meeting participants, who were made aware of the efforts of the team to put mental health discussions on the table and to help give visibility to the work of many CSOs in the Pacific who have come up with key strategies for addressing the mental health issues of young people in the region. We participated in a closed door meeting after suggestion from on of our interviewees. We were given a chance to present the main findings and recommendations from our booklet work and were asked questions about possible future funding avenues for this line of work. Although this was a closing process for our project we collected the contacts of our participants and promised to share online versions of the booklet as well as the different videos we created. We seek to maintain dialogue and communication with these organizations via the sharing of the booklet.
