The project is designed to address the growing need for a structured approach to the deployment and use of IoT sensors in the rail industry. The core objectives of the project include reviewing previous IoT sensor installations on rolling stock, identifying potential new applications, assessing the barriers preventing wider implementation, and developing a comprehensive framework for consistent IoT sensor deployment across the industry. The main aim is to provide the rail sector with practical, evidence-based guidance that enhances operational efficiency, reduces maintenance costs, and aligns with industry standards and regulations.
