Insights seminar: Eco driving and traction energy management

Activity: Academic and Industrial eventsConference, workshop or symposium

Description

Rail Partners and the University of Birmingham have come together to educate members on the benefits of eco-driving and traction energy management. This interactive workshop and discussion session is largely aimed at the train driver management, and environment and sustainability manager community and builds on the Rail Partners eco driving and traction energy management guidance note published earlier this year.

Our speakers will explain how to reap the benefits of eco-driving by describing what it is about a train journey profile that drives energy consumption for either diesel or electric trains, and presenting case studies where train operators have successfully measured, analysed and then, reduced train energy consumption. Attendees can also expect to learn about how to implement eco-driving, including how in cab technology and lineside signage can support train drivers in reducing energy consumption.
