Description

Supporting young people with vision impairment through post-16 transition.

The purpose of this event was to bring together academics from VICTAR, Heads of Services from Local Authority Sensory Support Services, and professional association ‘VIEW’ to promote the development of evidence-based post-16 transition support.

The event had two objectives: 1) disseminate findings from an ongoing longitudinal qualitative study which has been tracking the post-16 transition experiences of 80 young people with visual impairment for 7 years; 2) create opportunity for Heads of Service to discuss how findings of the study can inform service provision and to share examples of good practice in relation to the reforms. This discussion was supported by VIEW who will also be facilitating the dissemination of the outcomes of the meeting.

We targeted leaders in the field by inviting Heads of Service from Local Authority Sensory Support Services to participate in the event and exceeded our target number of delegates of 20.
