Abstract: The synthesis of a series of bimetallic complexes supported by multidentate Schiff base type ligands will be presented, involving sequential metallation with 3d and 4f/5f metal reagents. The structural characterisation and electrochemical properties of these bimetallic complexes will be discussed with respect to the nature of metal-metal interactions, and their propensity towards multielectron transfer to small molecule substrates.
