Description
Posthuman Nature (multi-channel live computer music performance)
According to humanist ideals, nature is often portrayed as something other, a place of purity, from where the essential originates. Current voices in critical posthumanist thought, however, take a non-dualist perspective, from which there are no integral entities such as ‘human’, ‘natural’, ‘artificial’, ‘technological’: rather, everything is a hybrid, or a synthesis. In Posthuman Nature, live performance is extended into a spatially distributed environment of amorphous cyborg genomes and speculative morphologies. Machine learning algorithms, spatial feedback networks, and cellular automata connect the agents of a world in which nobody is pedigree, and everyone is equally alien.
