A theory of change for meeting Social Emotional and Mental health needs in schools: the Routes to Inclusion programme evaluation.

Activity: Academic and Industrial eventsConference, workshop or symposium

Description

The need to support children and young people's social, emotional and mental health needs in schools is higher than ever. Building capacity among school staff to identify and respond to such needs is key. This work reports on a city-wide project, led by Educational Psychologists using a graduated response, to support primary school staff in one UK-Midlands Local Authority. Using complex evaluation approaches, positive effects were found, and the key enablers of this were identified. A theory of change to support capacity building and early intervention for responding to complex needs in schools was generated.
